For your pseudo friday I searched www.ctan.org for float.sty and found
only a 1992 version for 209. I then went to google and finally found
ftp://ftp.dante.de/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/supported/float/
which has float.dtx, float.ins, and a README. Enough that I can build
the float.sty that lyx now needs to properly render newfile3.lyx, a
major contribution to English literature by Jean-Marc Lasgouttes.
