The percentage of hydrocarbons in the gas is usually pretty low. Water 
scrubbers strip the hydrocarbons and concentrate them in the scrubber water.

Does this mean that  a high percentage of the combustable gas is actually 
hydrocarbons, etc. released by heating the residue, rather than from the 
reduction of CO and decomposition of water?
