She recently joined the NRCS Soil Health Division as the West Regional Soil Health Team Leader. Before joining NRCS, Kucera was an associate professor of soil and environmental microbiology with the Department of Plant and Soil Science at Texas Tech University. At TTU, she taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses in soil science and did research to better understand management options for positively influencing our soil’s living organisms. Kucera has been involved in soil health-related research, extension, and teaching in varied agronomic, horticultural, forest, and range systems across the western and central U.S. since the 90s. He has 37 years of research experience in the areas of environmental geochemistry and soil mineralogy. He received his B.S. in Soil Science from New Mexico State University, and his M.S. and Ph.D in Soil Chemistry from Iowa State University. Dr. Amonette joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 1986 and is a member of the Geochemistry Group in the Physical Sciences Division housed in the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory.
