Just for perspective, I also live in an area where many nice houses
and cars are never locked. We have a relatively small range of
incomes, and a tradition of mutual aid. Sometimes, only a meal goes
missing. If you can't trust your neighbors, it is structural
injustice at work, not human nature.

Hi Rolf,
Talking about locations like this on a public list is an invitation.
We have had a spate of bandit bands East of here who come in, rent
into a Pension and spend the next months climbing garden walls; 1st,
2nd and higher balconies and taking home the loot. :-(
..one way to, er, fix this, is "decorate" your garden etc
walls with "ornamental" "bear" traps. ;o)

Scenarios always come in sets of three:
best case, worst case, and just in case.
