Hi Derek, one other thing.... I should add that your statement about excess moisture in a gasifier is somewhat miss-informed (NOT trying to be nasty) basically, any "homemade" downdraft units running feedstock with "bone dry" (under 12% moisture content) will NOT run correctly with more water, (unless an external or "parasitic" heating source is also used, as the latent heat in the feedstock will simply NOT be enough to drive the gasification reaction correctly), in fact, even the moisture in the incoming air can cause a gasifier to "run weak" (low H2 content) if the % R/H (relative humidity) is high enough, the excess moisture simply robs too much heat from the gasifier.
So, to sum it simply, total moisture should NOT exceed 27% M/C fuel AND air combined total (give or take a few %).... Greg Manning, Canadian Gasifier Ltd.
