No one said that he had no right to leave - but he did leave of his own
volition - and within his contract widow or not, he didn't give any prior
indication that could have helped with the search for his successor and/or to
preserve the upcoming recruiting class.

Whether you feel that he should have been the one hired when Zook got canned or
not, it's almost a certainty that the first time around he could have had the
job for as long as he wanted it. He moved on, and so did we, so he had no
intrinsic right to the job the second time around.

I wish he hadn't made the choice to coach for a team in our division. I'll
always love the guy, but I don't root for him to win unless I think it will
benefit, or at least not hurt, the Gators.

And I look forward to his retiring from coaching and (I hope) returning to the
Swamp as an unabashed Gators supporter, when he can once again receive all of
the adulation he has earned from Gator Nation.

You are right........ too many
folks tend to over react to SOS's leaving and eventual move to S.
Carolina......  He did leave within his contractual window.

Didn't his contract have a brief window each year in which he could leave
UF, and that was when he left?

IIRC, the timing of the window itself was chosen by UF to minimize the
distraction on the team during a bowl game while leaving enough time for the
successor to step in before signing day.

It's a little harsh to criticize a coach for living up to his
  contract.
