Mary, Randy, and others,

I am not sure I am so happy about this. I agree that the coverage is
generally better with ESPN but I am concerned that this will limit access to
the games by the less affluent. Since many of our recruits are less
affluent, could this hurt recruiting?

I agree. I was happy to see this news. ESPN has consistently excellent
football broadcasts. Good camera angles, knowledgeable announcers (we can
argue about this, I know), and lots of replays. The single most aggravating
thing, to me, about watching TV coverage of games is when the network
doesn't show replays of penalty calls, questionable calls/plays, etc. When
I am left wondering WTH happened, I am not a happy viewer. I am rarely
displeased with ESPN, in this regard. And, back from the day when they were
the only network broadcasting the Thursday and Friday NCAA tourney games,
they have always been good at updating scores from other games.

Yeah, I can get p.o.'d with any announcer saying stupid crap about my Gators
(or just mouthing stupid crap in general -- like fawning over B.Bowden or
Mathew Stafford being the best NFL-style QB playing college ball), but the
ESPN color guys are usually have intelligent comments about playing the
game.

My 2 cents, anyway...

You know, I think I am happy with this move. I don't really have anything
against CBS, but their announcers just don't seem to be as knowledgeable
about UF as the ESPN guys. Yeah, I know Herbstreet is a nut case and Corso
is just plain wacky, but I still kinda like them.

Sunshine's quality has always been subpar and don't even get me started on
Raycom. I think they hired their technicians from off the floor at Radio
Shack.

Yeah, IMHO, ESPN is the way to go.
