Like I tried to say, I don't think intent has anything to do with it. If you step on a down player, it IS a flagrant foul.

But the sideline reporter from ESPN said it happened right in front of her and she didn't think it was intentional, and Hodge's reaction was one of surprise and he went to help the KY player right away. I can see why the refs called it the way they did, just mentioning I have heard a contrary opinion. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill <mailto:[email protected]> Hileman To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, February 13, 2009 1:22 PM Subject: [gatortalk] Re: KY game... "Intent" had to do with whether it was "Flagrant" or not, Leon. It's the "Flagrant" part that got him ejected from the game. This is why they reviewed and reviewed and reviewed the tape. I did not see it, was listening on radio, but the vast majority of those who did see it, even Gator fans, agree that it sure looked intentional. And Walter does have a reputation as a hot-head. Billy must have agreed because from what I heard, he didn't contest it. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]on Behalf Of A. Billy was very gracious about the call. He said that the referees were put in a bad spot trying to discern Hodges intent. On the replay it appeared as if Hodge was looking down when he stepped. In the end the officials thought that they should err on the side of caution. Several courtside including GatorCountry's Franz and the ESPN sideline reporter reported that they thought it was accidental. Has Billy D said anything about the bad call on Water Hodge at KY? Did anybody watch the game last night on ESPN? Another pain filled night for me yesterday...great show put up by Calathes (I am not going to totally blame him for the loss though...since there is not telling what would have happened even if he had made all his 3 FTs). The rest of the team needs show up real fast! Dan Werner...what is with him? There was so much promise and expectations but so less productiviity. He seems so indecisive every time he has the ball in his hand! :-( <BR<BR --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
