I try to have a theme each year. That gets me off the hook for not picking the Gators. One year the theme was always pick the underdog. That worked out surprisingly well. This year, I am going with whichever school has the smaller overall enrollment. My theory is that more students = more alumni = more people betting on their alma mater out of loyalty. As the spread is meant to balance the wagers for and against, a team with a large and loyal alumni base will almost always move the spread away from what it would otherwise be. Unless UF adds UCF to its schedule, there aren't many schools with a larger enrollment, so I will have to pick against UF frequently. One year, I ought to go with endowments, to balance out the effects of very wealthy alumni who, presumably, wager in larger amounts. I have also decided to treat Notre Dame as if all Irish Catholics in the U.S. are alumni for the purposes of this experiment. -Zeb --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
