<<Offensive Play-Calling If I recall correctly, last year we didn’t really open up the offense until the LSU game. Were you as frustrated with the play calling in the early games as I was? And remember how we jumped all over Dan Mullen for the unimaginative, lousy play-calling that cost us the Ole Miss game? This year, we have a new Offensive Coordinator. How different or similar is the playbook, and how long will it take the offense to really click? (The first two games don’t count.)>>On the other hand - Mullen was not well liked by many on the offense, Coaches and players. I think that the addition of Scot Loeffler will be big. Kenny Carter has had a year with the RBs and sounds like he has whipped them into shape. Sounds like the playbook is deeper this year. Sounds like the players have been in the complex system one more year and understand it much better. The change up with Brantley will be interesting. I was watching Texas and Oklahoma last night and they both looked very one dimensional. i.e. Pass - with an occassional run. With us - I really don't think you know what will come at you. By interchanging players - it disguises the offense more. Before you could key on Harvin and where he lines up. Now you have to think key on Brandon James - but don't key on Demps or Rainey when they play the slot? PLUS - I think that we have a psychological edge over opponents because of Tebow. So many teams are convinced - you can't beat Tebow. I think next year - we lose that psychological edge.<<No Percy Yes, I know we have tons of talent, but you don’t lose a Percy Harvin and just continue without a hitch. Whether it is a single individual who steps up and takes over that role, or a committee, we’ve got to have the kinds of offensive threats that Percy posed.>>I agree that harvin is special. But also often hurt. So it was like 0% Harvin when he was out, 80% harvin when he was injured, and rarely 100% harvin when healthy. I think that Brandon James, Demps, and rainey have developed into much more special players such that they will be 80 to 90 percent Harvin. If one of them gets hurt - then we can insert another 80 to 90 percent harvin. Remember that Demps and Rainey were freshmen last season. They are much improved this year. Its Brandon James last year and he is VERY motivated<<Receivers No Louis Murphy. Again, the current crop has to step up. Are they ready?>>We have three or four for the slot and at least two deep at the wide outs. As the season progresses - I'll bet that we will be three deep. Don't forget Hernandez ....<<Offensive Line – How long before the group really gels, and how many injuries can we sustain and still dominate SEC defenses?>>We have six starters that they are trying to whittle down to 5. Then there are a couple more that are close and would be good substitutes. Then the big stud Xavier Nixon that will be pushing the starting lineup about halfway through the season.<<The Schedule>>The schedule is the best it has been in years. Granted - any team can beat ya - but I'd rather be us going into a game - then them.
