Whew! What a relief that the game is over. On the touchdown, the announcers indicated Riley could have been called for grabbing the defender's jersey. What do you think? Was it something the officials just didn't see or was it a good no call? What do they teach the receivers as far as what they should do and what they should avoid in trying to get separation? It's my understanding that it definitely can be called as holding on the receiver...but, like holding on the line, it's one of those things that happens on most every play. In the replay, though, it didn't seem to me that Riley's jersey grab REALLY was the cause of the defender not keeping up with him...when Riley grabbed his jersey, the guy had already turned and slowed as though he thought Riley Cooper had stopped behind him to catch the ball. I also was confused about the center's tilting his head to indicate the ball was about to be snapped. I got the impression from the announcers that it's OK to do that as long as the defender doesn't come across and hit the center. If he just comes cross or hits someone other than the center, it's defensive offsides, but if he hits the center it's offensive? Can anybody shed any light on that? Thanks. Maybe I mis-heard what they were saying on the broadcast, but I thought the reason Pouncey stopped tilting his head was because LSU finally figured out it was the signal of the ball being hiked in a silent snap count, thus why the LSU defender broke through and "blew up" Pouncey early in the 2nd half. It seemed to me the reason for abandoning that signal (last year he'd do a pumping sort of motion with his arm prior to the snap) was because it was now signaling LSU and they were reacting to it.
