Frankly, there are about 120 schools that play FBS (formerly Div 1) football
and about 350 that play Div 1 basketball. Difference is primarily based on the
costs of competing at the highest levels.

They are Division I FCS (formerly Division 1-AA) in football. There are
MANY more teams that compete at the highest level in basketball but not
football.
