I heard this might be the case, coaching staff was meeting with Brown and his family.
Brown was not getting it done - on - or off - the field.
It is a shame that such a talented young man does not realize the potential that he has.
The road that he now has to take is much more difficult - but hopefully kicking him off the team will help wake this young man up and realize that everything will not just be handed to him.
It may be the best thing for both him and UF

--GAINESVILLE — Less than a week after a misdemeanor battery arrest, Gary Brown has run out of chances.
Brown, a redshirt freshman defensive tackle, has been dismissed from the Florida Gators after a pattern of bad behavior. Brown was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly slapping a woman and scratching another at a Gainesville apartment party.
"Gary Brown has had a history during his time here of not meeting a set of expectations we have for the student athletes in our football program and therefore he is no longer part of our program," team spokesman Steve McClain said.
The team informed Brown, a former Greensboro West Gadsden star, of the decision during a Friday meeting.
Lawyer Huntley Johnson, who is representing Brown, said on Friday there is no update on Brown's case in which he allegedly struck a woman who ordered partygoers to leave the apartment.
The Gators reaped no on-field benefits from Brown's enormous potential. The second-ranked defensive tackle of the class of 2009 redshirted last year after coming to camp overweight and with a sub-par work ethic.
The Gators have lost three five-star defensive tackles since early 2009. Torrey Davis left the team after a career riddled by legal and grade issues. John Brown transferred to Tennessee without ever seeing the field for Florida and also had grade problems.
Gary Brown is at least the 27th reported arrest during the 5-plus years of Urban Meyer's tenure.
Meyer often has patience with players facing criminal charges, but not with domestic disputes.
Cornerback Jacques Rickerson was kicked off the team shortly after November 2008 charges of felony domestic violence by strangulation and felony obstruction of justice after an altercation with a girlfriend.
Brown's departure gives clarity to Florida's 2010 scholarship situation. The Gators entered the week with 87 scholarship players, two above the NCAA's 85-player limit.
