Notes: Florida is coming off a ninth straight second-place finish at the SEC
Championships in February, edged by just 16 points by Auburn. SEC Men's
Swimmer of the Year, junior Conor Dwyer, and two-time NCAA champion Shaune
Fraser lead the Gators into the NCAAs. Dwyer won both the 200 and 500 free
at the SEC meet in Athens, Ga., while Fraser won the 100 fly and 200
individual medley. Fraser, a senior, won the 200 free at last year's NCAAs
and set an NCAA record in winning the 200 fly (1:40.75). Both Dwyer and
Fraser are on four of the five Gator relay teams entered. Last year, Florida
finished fifth while Auburn captured the national title. Arizona is ranked
No. 1 going into the NCAA Championships, with 18 swimmers qualified. Texas,
at No. 2, has the most swimmers qualified with 19. Stanford (17), California
(18) and Florida round out the pre-meet top five teams. The Gator men
haven't won the NCAA title since winning back-to-back in 1983-84.
