It's not just a freshman record. Passing for a touchdown isn't the same as being in possession of the ball for the touchdown. Of course, it's an important thing to pass for touchdowns, but this record is about who actually 'scored' the touchdown. Tim scored five touchdowns in the USC game and his receivers scored two more. Burton legitimately broke the UF record for touchdowns in a game.
