He has nine months to study the changes to the offense since Tebow and Gonzalez left. I doubt the routes have changed completely. Don't you think anyone that wants to learn the plays and routes - anyone whose job it is to learn the plays and routes - would pick it up in nine months? How did Thompson, Moore, Hines, and all the other WRs do it? How did Burton do it? << And don't you think that he'd need to prove that he's ready in practice before he's given a chance to possibly hurt the team by messing up badly in a game?>> I definitely think that. I'm not saying put him in the game before he is ready. My question is - why isn't he ready? Why are so many of these guys on offense - not ready? I don't think that Debose is the answer to our problems. Maybe one day he will be. From what little bit I have read - I think he has mental problems getting back into the game after being injured. I also think he has reservations about getting hit. From what I have seen - I would have Hines start at slot, Hammond and Moore start out wide. Moore has very few yards after the catch - but grabs most everything thrown near him. I love watching Hines run with the ball. I think Hammond is a playmaker and our third best receiver. The problem is - we wasted three games - getting these guys ready to play this fall. We could have better used those games for trying new things, working out kinks, etc. Seems like our offense was not ready to play till the Kentucky game. Do you think book and film study can negate the need for real life application of what one has learned? Debose was the target for several passes on our first couple of drives. Did you notice that they were very simple patterns where the ball was delivered very quickly to him? I believe that was a reward for him having, according to Meyer, his best week of practice ever. I don't think they could continue throwing the ball to him in the same way all night long because the element of surprise was gone, and UK was probably defending him in a way that would neccessitate him reading the defenses and making the proper route tree adjustments - something he's said to not have a firm grasp on yet, therefore he seemed to disappear again. --- Keith Baldwin wrote: With all that sitting around - Debose can't study the playbook, watch a ton of film, practices - and learn the plays?
