The last time we were dealing with this problem, our defense bailed us out.
I was pretty impressed with the way our defense played overall. The 2nd
quarter was a nightmare, but Bama's offense scored nothing in the second
half, and we held their two-headed monster RB to 110 yards. Mistakes will
always be made, and ALL our players played hard for the entire game.

My gripes are these:
(1) I just don't understand why our coaches keep trying to fit players into
roles they don't fit. Mike Pouncey should not be playing center. John
Brantley is not an option QB. Demps cannot pound his way between the
tackles.

(2) Our offense is unimaginative and predictable. When the opposing DC
knows we are going to try a jump pass, we have a big problem. When Bama's
DBs know, "When Brantley has the ball, we know he isn't running with it", we
have a problem. Our Coaches SAY we run an aggressive offense, but what I
SEE ON THE FIELD looks conservative and predictable.

All that being said, I wasn't as upset with this loss as the score would
usually suggest. I always hate the lop-sided refereeing that Bama gets --
especially in Tuscaloosa. And, I know I am whining pointlessly, here, but
if one of the touchdowns we scored would have been correctly called, the
game would have been entirely different. If the continual pass interference
by their DBs would have been called when it would have made a difference in
the game (like the 1st or 2nd or 3rd quarter), the game would have been
entirely different. In any other stadium, the fumble at the goal line would
have been correctly blown dead at the point when Brantley scooped in the
ball on the ground (refs are supposed to protect QBs from the kind of scrum
that occurred). Okay, I'm done now...

Go Gators!
