Not sure I agree with the simplicity of this explanation.  Of course the D
coordinators and the lineman know when we are passing the majority of the time;
however, that has NOTHING to do with the ability of our O lineman to execute.
This happens at every level of football.  Three point stances are usually runs,
two point stances are usually pass protect or pulling.  The down and distances
can dictate the play.  This is no great secret.

The O-line's job is to form a pocket and create passing lanes during a pass
play.  If we assume that they are, then maybe Brantley is throwing an
inaccurate
pass which will get knocked down if he doesn't pass through the lanes created.

If they are NOT creating passing lanes, then there is a serious lack of
execution.  Granted, they are reacting to the defensive players, but they know
where the lanes are supposed to be and how to create them.  They engage the D
player, get his hands tied up or knock him off balance so he can't jump, or
give
him a particular area to move to and "guide" him there or whatever.  The O-line
is supposed to make those passing lanes work.  The blocking scheme is supposed
to set those up.  The skill, ability, and technique of the O-lineman can
dictate
what and how the D player is capable of doing things.

There will always be one that "gets away".  That is where the QB makes the read
and checks away from that lane.

It is not as easy as just 3, 4, or 5 people running routes.  Blocking schemes
create those passing lanes that allows the QB to throw there the ball where
it is supposed to go within those routes.  If that is not happening, it could
be
the QB or just poor execution by the O-line.  With all of our issues this year
with O-line play, I am thinking its the latter.

If the announcers can figure out the run/pass stance, then I'm sure most of the
defensive coordinators in the country have got it figured LONG ago!!!!  Isn't
Addazio the OL coach along with ALL the other duties he has assumed since UM's
"retirement"???
