Before we anoint Steve Addazio the best OL coach in America remember this.

After the 2008 NC win over Oklahoma, we lost 2 coaches, Dan Mullen and John
Hevesy. Dan Mullen received his share of criticism while at UF but as we
can now see, he was pretty good as an OC.

John Hevesy was like the assistant OL coach, he coached the Tackles and TE's
if I remember correctly.

After they left, Steve Addazio took over the entire OL and OC duties,
essentially he was doing the job that previously had been done by 3 people.

In 2009 the OL and entire offense declined, but with Tebow and others, they
overcame the disastrous coaching changes IMO.

2010 comes along and w/o Tebow, Pouncy, Hernandez, Cooper, Nelson, etc.the
Offense and OL go completely into the tank.

My conclusion is that Steve Addazio can't do the job of 3 people, he might
be a good OL but IMO we don't know that, but the offense is in need of an
upgrade, especially in the passing game..I simply refuse to believe that of
all the WR recruits we've signed over the last couple of years, 1-2 can't
compete at the very highest levels.

Remember, in 2009, the passing game to a big nose dive, repeatedly we were
told during the season that our WR's were not getting separation and how
much we missed Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy. Well, guess what, all we did
was replace those 2 with 3 NFL caliber pass catchers..

Over the weekend, I saw Riley Cooper, David Nelson and Aaron Hernandez on
the field as pass catchers of NFL teams..How many teams in college football
had 3 NFL caliber receivers, a Heisman Trophy winning QB and a center who
was a 1st round NFL draft pick who is starting for the Steelers ??

All that and the offense declined ??

Subject: [gatortalk] Coaching changes.

It is reported that Coach Mac is heading to Texas. I have seen where some
of you are hoping that Coach Addazio heads to Indiana or some other parts
unknown. Here are some thoughts on these and other coaching changes:

1. I am not convinced that Austin is that great of a defensive mind.
With Coach Mac's departure, perhaps this is an opportunity to bring in a
better quality defensive coach. Could we get Stoops from F$U? Could we get
Kines back? Could we raid Alabama? (If Saban leaves Alabama, we might make
a good run at Kirby Smart?)

2. I think Coach Addazio is the best O-line coach in the country. I
want him to focus on that job. I don't want to lose him. I think he helps
Meyer and has good chemistry.
