Over the weekend, I saw Riley Cooper, David Nelson and Aaron Hernandez on the field as pass catchers of NFL teams….How many teams in college football had 3 NFL caliber receivers, a Heisman Trophy winning QB and a center who was a 1st round NFL draft pick who is starting for the Steelers ?? All that and the offense declined ??
Fair points. These aren't necessarily intended to counter those, but to add to the discussion. I agree that the statement that our receivers weren't good enough in 2009 was hogwash. But Tebow was never a three or four option guy (he may not have been asked to be one) and in 2009 he was without his favorite target, Harvin who was having a rookie of the year season in the NFL. Also, after his concussion, he was protected to the point that his most effective designed running play was basically removed from the offense. Add in the fact that Meyer is at heart an old school, conservative coach that knew he had a great defense, and I don't know if all of the decline in the offensive numbers should lie squarely at the feet of Addazio. -- GATORS: ONE VOICE ON SATURDAY - NO VOICE ON SUNDAY! 1996 National Football Champions | 2006 National Basketball Champions 2006 National Football Champions | 2007 National Basketball Champions 2008 National Football Champions | Three Heisman Trophy winners: Steve Spurrier (1966), Danny Wuerffel (1996), Tim Tebow (2007) - Visit our website at www.gatornet.us
