All military jobs allow full retirement after age 38, assuming enlistment at 
age 18.  Most get other careers and then 'double dip.'.  I see nothing wrong 
with it.  Kicking soap box to the curb, but willing to jump back on at TOO HOT 
(US Navy).

Imagine how our soldiers abroad feel; or truck drivers, or just about  
any other job that doesn't let you retire at age 46 to watch your  
kids play sports.
