Starke has no prisons. It would destroy their "Leave it to Beaver" self concept. This is a community that was proud of the cross on its water tower until a court reminded them of the Constitution. Starke's lights didn't even dim, contrary to local humor, when the switch used to be thrown at Raiford, Fl. Also nearby, but not in Starke, Union Correctional has the most felons in the area.
