Stacy, I had no trouble getting in and out from the airport, to the port, and to Downtown. Yes, the traffic was heavy but it was moving. I can think of many places in Florida where it is worse: Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando. I can also think of many other places like Washington DC, Boston, NYC, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Atlanta ... These are places that I have personally driven a fair amount.
I, like you, prefer smaller towns. It takes me almost three minutes longer to get to my office during rush hour. Maybe I should move into town? I think it is a nice place to visit, but there isn't enough money in the world to get me to live there! Of course, my opinion is from the perspective of someone who prefers smaller towns as opposed to big cities. Jerry is correct- the food there is amazing. As for the arts and entertainment, there is plenty to do. There is nothing quite like Pike Street Market, in my experience. But Seattle is strictly a place I love to visit - and not frequently!! If a national laboratory or military research outfit suddenly pops up in Gainesville , let me know! I will move there in a second! (-: As it stands, I have a pretty good gig here in the Tri-Cities, with family nearby and a relatively awesome job. And to make it Gator related, I AM the Gator club out here. Our little group of Gators watch all the games at my house. We sing "We Are The Boys" at the end of the 3rd quarter, and the alma mater at the end of the game.
