We then headed down to our motel in Ocala. Because we didn’t
properly plan ahead I couldn’t find a room at a decent price in
Gainesville.
We headed home on Sunday morning and I decided to avoid the
turnpike and head out hwy 40 through the Ocala National Forest and
make a side trip to Deland. We stopped in Deland and walked around
their nicely restored downtown area. Nice place and Stetson has
some beautiful buildings.
Arrived home about 4pm and wondered where the weekend had gone.
Didn’t mean for this tale to be such a downer but honestly I wish
we had stayed home and watched it on TV.
There is a nice an inexpensive hotel in Wildwood right off of the the
turnpike. Very Clean; I think that it was the Sleep Inn & Suites at
1225 Main Street.
Book it for the Friday night before the game.
Arrive early enough on Friday to eat dinner at Cafe Cotillion, an
experience not to be missed. In the town's original courthouse
building, the small restaurant serves well-made southern classics;
country fried steak with homemade gravy; shrimp in grits. Everything
is homemade, even the salad dressings. Don't miss the red velvet cake.
To be honest, it is worth a trip to Wildwood just to enjoy dinner there:

The Sleep Inn offers complimentary hot breakfast the next morning;
nothing fancy but good and free.
Get up in the morning and head to the O&B, you will be hours ahead of
the traffic jams and have no problem with parking. We arrived early
enough to grab seats in the covered area of the South end zone with a
TV right in front of us and a bathroom right behind.
