The best thing for insects is permethrin spray. Mist your clothing and tent with it. It will last for four + washings. On your tent, it will last about two weeks. Repel makes a good spray or Bass Pro Shops sells a very good quart sprayer. For your skin, you could use deet. Concentrations above 20% are probably overkill and could irritate your skin.
