First SEC expansion will be based on what is best for the SEC not what is
best for an individual school, Florida or otherwise. Second, what is best
for the SEC is television revenue primarily football secondarily basketball,
the rest of the sports can go pound sand, they are an afterthought.
Therefore, IMHO, the first targets are TAMU, Va Tech, Missouri because of
their television markets. FSU and Clemson are out because of the same
reason. Ga Tech and Miami have the markets but will be nixed because of UF
and UGA. While I do not agree with Shane that Va Tech and Va are tied at
the hip, I do believe Oklahoma and Okie State are a package deal. Now
Missouri thought it would get an invite from the Big 10 can't count last
year and didn't but if this super conference starts up again they may think
it is a better fit. So, if Va tech or Mizzo takes a pass the SEC will try
for Okie-Okie St quinella. Now if TAMU, Va tech and Mizzo all say yes, I
really have no idea who the SEC approaches, but Maryland would make some
sense. Should be interesting.

I've wondered about travel arrangements for the other teams like baseball,
gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, etc. It seems like I read that the baseball
team went by bus to Knoxville last year. Of course the trip to College
Station isn't much longer than the trip to Fayetteville.

That's definitely a consideration, but I wonder if the increase in
football/basketball dollars wouldn't more than make up for travel costs to
Missouri.

Besides, Leon could fit the entire volleyball team in his motor home!

And Florida State? Who cares if they come in? They stay in the ACC, they
win a lot of meaningless games every year. They come into the SEC, they
fill their stadium more often.

I think that it would save a lot of $ for non-revenue sports.

Much easier for a lacrosse team to catch a bus to Tallahassee than fly to
Missouri.

Given the limited budgets of non-revenue sports, it would be nice to have
some conference opponents that weren't 300 miles away.

UCF and USF would fit the bill as well.
