His lawyer at Morgan & Morgan was Johnny Townsend's father (as in our
punter Johnny Townsend).  Townsend has done some litigation for
high-profile individuals, like the Backstreet Boys or one of those boy
bands from Orlando, among others, and those weren't personal injury if I
recall correctly.  I figure the teammate connection is what got the Griers
to talk to Morgan & Morgan.
