Steve,

So sorry we will miss you, we are letting our daughter have our two for that
game, since three weekends in a row is a struggle for us.

As far as B&Bs go, I can help there. I’m not sure what is still available on
short notice, but we have stayed at three of the local Gainesville B&Bs
(Sweetwater Branch, Magnolia Plantation and Laurel Oak) and the Herlong in
Micanopy and they are all awesome. Sweetwater Branch and Herlong are our
favorites, with multiple stays, but any of them would be great options.

That game won’t be as well attended, so hopefully you can book your first
choice, but if you are stuck and can’t find anything else, you might also want
to consider the Micanopy Inn right at I-75. It’s not really a B&B, but it’s an
old 70s style hotel that has been refurbished with a Gator theme in mind. It’s
a budget option, but the owners are Gators and are dedicated to making your
game visit stay comfortable. I’ve never stayed there, but I’ve heard others say
it worked well for them.

Safe travels and enjoy the trip!

Darlene

Good afternoon Gator Talkers!

As many of you are aware, about 3 years ago Leslie and myself ditched mainland
life to move to an island in the Caribbean (St. John, in the US Virgin
Islands). Life down here is quite different, but we have adjusted and think we
can handle it (don't you feel sorry for us?)

One thing we have missed terribly is the option to go take in a Gator football
game at the Swamp (also the SEC Network can only be viewed in Standard
Definition, but I suppose that's a first world problem). We are feeding our fix
with a whirlwind visit back to our beloved Sunshine State next week, the
highlights being the bookend Gator football games on 9/10 and 9/17, and my
first ever live Gators soccer game on 9/18!

We will be driving to and from Melbourne the day of the Kentucky game, but plan
on getting there early to secure a parking place on campus. No real plans other
than walking around and taking it all in. For the North Texas state game we
will also have a lot of time to kill before the game (since it's at night) and
won't be in any hurry to head out since we'll be hanging around to watch the
soccer team play Sunday evening.

We'd love to come by and say hi to any of you that we already know, or to meet
any new faces that might be interested during tailgating time before any of the
games.

Also, if you have any recommendations for cool places to stay (looking for B&B
type accommodations as opposed to hotel rooms) on Saturday 9/17 and Sunday
9/18, please let me hear about them.

Thanks, and - Go Gators!

Steve Mckibben
