Raymon... Your almost there!! Assing each machine on your protected network a unique "192" address. In the In the TCPIP protocol properties of these machines, set the Gateway to the IP address of the Gnatbox's network card that is attached to your protected network. Add the DNS addresses supplied by your Cable Modem ISP to each machine's DNS tab in the TCPIP properties. Restart the machine when prompted and that machine should be able to connect to the world.
If you want to get email working to your ISP's mail server let me know. It will help if you can tell me who your ISP is; maybe @home or RoadRunner? Feel free to email me off list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] for more info. >JjV< -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Raymond G. It's 2:30 am and I've been at this a few days already. I have a cable modem connection and I've managed to get my external stuff functioning. At least I get the same numbers (ip?) as I do when I'm usually connected. And I've pinged ponged okay. The protected network is a different story. I run a simple windows 98 peer to peer like network. I tried to have gnat box set the ip automatically, no go. I made up an ip according to what the insturction manual says. 192 something something. Now what? How am I supposed to configure the other machines on my network to talk, go through the gnat box to get me to the internet? I go tools, options, connections, lan settings ... and then what? Do i put in the ip address I made up? do is list gnat box as the proxy server, what about ports? Do I need the ip of the computer i'm trying to get on from. What do I use to ping it? When i put in the ip address for the gnat box to open up the web interface i get nothing. Some how I'm not connecting! Heck I'm confused. This seems like a great product but I'm in way over my head here. Is there an idiots guide in the archives or maybe someone who'll just take pity on those condsiderably less accomplished. Help. Thank you in advance. ---------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe gb-users your_email_address in the body of the message
