Hope this helps...

Initial release (Feb 2000)
1. Manual key exchange
2. Support for ESP tunnel mode
3. Encryption algorithms: 56 bit DES, variable length key algorithms: Blowfish, RC4, CAST128 and Simple are limited to a max of 64 bits.
4.GNAT Box to GNAT Box support.

Later release (March/April 2000)
1. IKE key exchange
2. Support for mobile remote software clients

With regard to the IPSec VPN implementation in the GNAT Box-

Users on the protected network (PRO) can access a remote network transparently through the VPN tunnel once the VPN configuration has been defined. The VPN also can have filtering applied to it. This means that although you create a VPN tunnel between two networks you can use the filtering facilities to control access. So you could limit access on the VPN tunnel by:
- Source IP (remote hidden IP addresses)
- Source Port
- Dest IP (local hidden IP addresses)
- Dest Port
- Protocol (any IP protocol)
- Day of week
- Time of day

All the best.
