Man, is it something in the water?  Another country heard from here -- I 
have the same symptoms.  It's as if the link doesn't exist.

What I did notice on the syslogs was these entries after I tried pinging my 
gateway on the External interface from the Gnatbox admin window:

PPP: Phase: using interface: tun0
PPP: Phase: deflink: Created in closed state

[couple of routing messages]

PPP: Chat script failed   

No shit the script failed.  You can't find the fooking modem!
Now does this mean that there's some kind of tunnel action going on here?  I 
didn't define no steenking tunnel!

Check your syslogs and see if you have that message.  No, I don't know yet 
what to do about it, but it seems like something is configured here that 
shouldn't be.
