Yeah, real simple question. No simple answer, however. 8)

That's an interesting twist on an old problem...don't just move the IP
address, move the DNS servers. Ouch! Haven't heard of that being
done before.

I can't think of a "proper" solution to this problem, at least with GB
Light. GB doesn't even fetch the DNS server info from the DHCP
server...so even if there was a way to pass it on, it doesn't have
anything to pass on.

Easiest recommendation I could give you would be to use someone else's
DNS server which permits "outsiders" to hitch a ride, and doesn't get
relocated. Your service move 'em, who cares? You aren't using 'em!
A problem here would be the probable slight increase in DNS name
resolution time, unless you found one "close" (i.e., fast) to you on
the Internet. If you want to get fancy, you could set up a caching
DNS server which should more than resolve that problem, but as I
haven't got around to doing that yet myself *ahem* (and I should), I
won't push that option.

A tip to finding a DNS server would be to check with neighbors who
have dial-up service and are happy (don't tell them about your cable,
they will stop being happy 8), go to those services and check their
tech support pages -- some of 'em require hard-coded DNS addresses and
would then have them listed on the tech support pages. Or, if you are
really friendly with them, go to their machine and do a WINIPCFG (or
equivalent for whatever OS) and check what their DNS servers are while
they are connected.

Nick.
