Wow, The gods are listening - You people ROCK!
This is why I bought the GTA product - They truly want to help. Now lets see if they (and the users that replied) can help an old dog learn a new trick. David Brooks, Q1. response GTA ver - 3.2.1 Q2. response Yes, in 2 different class A zones Q3. response I don't follow. Why the use of a tunnel? Our tnsnames.ora files is properly setup, and we are not supporting name server under Oracle. David Morris, Q1. response No Q2. response Correct SQLNET is old and we are currently stuck with that piece of trash. Q3. response tnsnames not the problem - It works internally without problems. Q4. response Oracle thick client Q5. response Correct see Q3 response Michael Pease, I understand, I do not want to use static ports at all - unless no other option exists. Thus the desire to use SQL_NET proxy. It handles the random and static ports for point and destination, elimination the need for static port filter schemes. Or, that is how it is supposed to work according to Oracle and I believe GTA documentation. Subject: Re: [gb-users] SQL_NET proxy Hello Danny, Can what version of the firewall are you using? Are you on a later version of the 3.2 series. We added some support for this in the later version of 3.2. Are you using NAT between the PSN and the Protected network? Connecting through a tunnel. Oracle SQL server should be configured to us a name. And the name should map to the IP address that is the beginning of the PSN.
