Personally, I would be surprised if you *couldn't* get it to work. I've got a 3.4.2 GB-Flash with VPNs to a Robox (forget which version of GB), a GB-200 (3.4.2), a Linksys RV082, and a Linksys WRV-54G. The RV082 is the newest of the devices I've got rigged in right now and it took me a whole 5 minutes to get it to work. The only oddity is that it wants to create a separate VPN tunnel for each IP range I want access to, but that's a Linksys issue, not a GTA issue. We're probably going to add a Cisco PIX 501 in shortly. Again, I'm expecting that to work pretty painlessly.
I think the biggest problem you might run into is if someone is using the old mobile client software that came with the version of GB you're using. You might also have to tweak the settings. My guess is that whatever was used as a default when setting up a VPN might not be the same defaults anymore. Personally, I would stick with the GB's. Cisco is not a bad product by any stretch of the imagination, but neither are the GTA products.
