I am Arnav Soni, a student studying Software Engineering. I have
always been fascinated by OSS, and this time I thought I will actually
start contributing. GSoC seemed like a great opportunity to get
started. I have intermediate-level C/C++ knowledge and a little
experience with compiler design.

I looked through the "selected projects" list and also the list of
"other project ideas" and one of those seemed particularly interesting
to me. "Analyze and improve inlining, loop unrolling, reassociation
and predictive commoning heuristics for PowerPC architecture".

I have narrowed my focus to reassociation and was wondering if it
would be possible to make a good GSoC project, or if experienced
developers would be kind enough to recommend something else. This is
my first time trying to contribute to something of this scale, and any
pointers would be much appreciated. I would also like to add that I am
excited to contribute to gcc, irrespective of if my GSoC proposal gets
accepted or not. Thank you for your attention.

Yours Truly
Arnav
