Right. A few years ago, if two developers got global maintainership, it's
likely they'd both be from RedHat. This just reflects the movement of
people between companies, in my opinion.
Richard is right! And if you go back further, a majority of gcc
maintainers probably worked at Cygnus.
When considering nominations, I certainly don't consider where
they work as much as their technical capabilities and ability
to work well in the GCC community.
Watching the email addresses of people change, I know I have
noticed the same people at Cygnus, RedHat, Apple, Google, BSDi,
and others. But it doesn't change their technical ability and as long
as they are working on gcc in a responsible manner and not causing
strive in the community, that's what matters.
Note that on the steering committee we represent technical areas
NOT the companies we work for at any given time.
