Hi,

I have run into a problem I need some advice
on narrowing down so I can file a useful PR.
This is definitely a regression but I need to
figure out when it broke.

On the GCC CFARM (gcc12) x86_64 Debian,
the psim in gdb 6.8 and CVS head works correctly
when compiled with the OS provided compiler:

$ /usr/bin/gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)

It does not work correctly (fails with
an assertion) when compiled with the gcc SVN trunk.

The SVN trunk gcc compiles a working psim on 32-bit Fedora.

This prevents me from running powerpc-rtems tests on
the CFARM.
Is there anything other than a binary search by date/version
to narrow down when this broke?
