OK, I've had a shot at this, with mixed results:
http://www.riscos.info/index.php/Main1a [1]

You'll notice I removed the search box - this is just because it takes
up so much space on the page and also because I don't know how it's
supposed to look. To be honest I'm not that sure of its value since we
can all just visit google ourselves ;)

I'm open minded about it if other people think it's important though.

The other thing to note is that when I just checked it in a small window
(e.g. the NetSurf default "new window") there's still way too much
information on there for a front page.

I've just noticed Simon made some comments about how much content to
have on the front page, so maybe he'll have some thoughts on it.

The "Click for more" links at the bottom would take you to some kind of
more comprehensive index page - basically like the "all pages" wiki
link, but with a bit more structure.

Cheers,
Adam

[1] Sorry about the HTML (I still can't work out how to work with wiki
tables) and the multiple log entries (it's tricky when you're using
sub-pages because the changes don't show up in the main page until you
save them).
