As you say if you follow the 4.1.2 checkout it only checks out the gcc4 folder but named as gccsdk. So technically the instructions are there it's just that they're wrong for the gcc 4.1.2 branch. I've updated them so hopefully they are correct now. Although I haven't yet tried it to confirm.
