On a more disturbing note, I notice that (probably due to the ERROR 1 in my first post) I get only 22 attribute fields (but all the records) when I convert with ogr2ogr, and I get 27 attribute fields when I use my 1997 edition MapInfo bundled IMUTGUI I don't have time to look into this right now, but if there is a developer on this list that would like some sample data, please let me know. I just feel that the current version, because it does create the output files, could cause problems for a less nosey ( :-) ) user.
