Jukka, Even for GML2 the driver makes lot of assumption and guess work. As per the support of GML3, the driver was updated to recognise certain geometry features (xml tags) that are not in GML2.
I will try to be more specific in the GML driver's doc. BTW, I am going to add 'limited' support for xlinks in a day or two. "xlink:href" attributes are used to identify features in the same file, different file or in http/ftp resources identifyed by the "gml:id" attribute. Also adding TopoSurface and TopoCurve feature recognision.
