Luisa, You can try the "ASCII Gridded XYZ" format (http://gdal.org/frmt_xyz.html). Just convert your GRIB files to the format "XYZ" using gdal_translate. However, this is only available from GDAL 1.8. You will have to compile GDAL trunk for this. (http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/DownloadSource#Subversion)
