Thanks for the hint! You are right: wgrib2 doesn't like the file either:
$ wgrib2 HRES_ENS_2010100300+000.grib2
*** FATAL ERROR: rd_grib2_msg, missing end section ('7777') ***
It looks like I better contact the data provider.
