Hi, As discussed recently, I've just commited a change so that GDAL_CACHEMAX defaults to 5% of the usable physical RAM instead of the fixed value of 40 MB. A debug trace will display the value used in MB. The value can be customized with "GDAL_CACHEMAX=X" (in MB) as before, or with "GDAL_CACHEMAX=X%"
