for those not actively monitoring github activity, I just want to point
at https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/pull/7389 that adds read access to
raster layers of File
Geodatabases (.gdb directories) created by ArcGIS 10 and above (which is
a capability that didn't even exist in the closed source FileGDB SDK)
