Scott's patch, actuallly his binary, worked like a charm for me on Ubuntu
8.04
64-bit. However, a 'supported' version would definitely improve my Gears
experience.
Mainly because I now get a error popup everytime I start Firefox due to the
fact that
the Gears addon cannot be automatically updated (platform not supported
error).
