Hi,

I have users experiencing 2 different installation problems with
Gears.

First, a user is receiving a 1603 error message when installing Gears:
"The installer encountered error 1603: Fatal error during
installation.". In searching the group, I see that one suggestion is
to look for a file names gears-win32-opt.msi.log in C:\Program Files
\Google\Update\Download immediately after failed install. However,
the message suggesting that is 2 years old, so I'm not sure that the
current version of Gears would have the same location or filename. Is
there a different debugging/verbose logging location for failure
messages?

Second, several users (also all windows users) are experiencing a
problem whereby Gears appears to be installed in the control panel,
but when they go to http://gears.google.com, it reports that Gears is
not installed. We've tried removing the installation, rebooting, and
reinstalling - but the problem seems to continue to occur. How can I
fix this?

Thanks
Dave Viner
