Hello. I am receiving bugs reports on several Gears errors that I can't figure it out how to fix.
First of all, I did extensive testing of my application on all supported platform and can't reproduce any of those and also is working fine for 95% of the users (maybe more than that), but I am still getting strange error reports. I will put those here, maybe someone can point me on the right direction: 1.Gears initialization failure. : Error - Internal Error: desktop/ desktop_linux.cc Line 174 The error is triggered when is trying to create the desktop icon, by calling createShortcut on desktop class. I can't reproduce this error, but I am getting quite a lot of bug reports on that. Only useful thing that I found in logs is the user agent: HTTP_USER_AGENT : Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042523 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.0.10 2. Gears initialization failure. : Error - TypeError: Cannot call method 'apply' of undefined I don't have any other useful information on this one, maybe user agent can help: HTTP_USER_AGENT : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/1.0.154.59 Safari/525.19 3. Gears initialization failure. : Error - Error initializing ResourceStore. Again, not much information on this, but the user agent: HTTP_USER_AGENT : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en- US) AppleWebKit/525.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/1.0.154.59 Safari/ 525.19 4. Gears initialization failure. : Error - Couldn't open SQLite database. And to be more clear: I can't reproduce those errors, I don't know anyone who can and I don't have access to any of the environments where those errors appear. I have a system on my application that catch any error and sends an email to me with the error text and some standard environment logs (like user agent). My application have more than 100 000 users and I get several of those error emails, it's a tiny percent that I would never known if I haven't the error mailing system in place, but now that I know i want to find a way to get rid of or at least know the exact cause of the problem.
