I had the same problem: "I cannot see any option to install on the screen whatsoever. There is just a blank space where the install option should be."
I solved it by removing Gears from Safari (http://code.google.com/ intl/en/apis/gears/install.html). But, as far as I can tell, OS X is still not supported.
