Hi Jeanna,
I keep a humid box in the cage at all times. I dont care for paper towels
in there as they dry out fast. I  prefer to use a closed box with a hole
large enough for the gecko to enter. Inside I use peat. About two inches
deep works well. I make it damp, not wet. You can check it every couple
days to see if it is drying out. The new cocconut fiber beddings work
really well too.
